Can I use Command™ Products on glass windows? It is okay to use Command™ Products if the glass is not exposed to direct sunlight and not flooded with water. For glass shower doors use our special Water-Resistant line of products (blue strip) which are clearly marked on our packaging. Will Command™ Products stick to brick? No. Command™ Products are intended for mostly smooth surfaces such as those listed above. However, our products will stick to painted, smooth cinder block (the type found inside many school and office buildings). Can I use Command™ Products on fresh paint? Paint should be fully cured (check paint can for manufacturer's cure time) before using Command Products. We recommend waiting 28 days before use on fresh paint. Also, alcohol may remove or dull the surface of fresh paint. Can I use Command™ Products on wallpaper? No. Most wallpapers are too delicate and can tear when adhesives are applied. Will it hold soundproofing acoustic foam board or decorative plates? Yes, provided the item is within the weight limit specified for Command™ Picture Hanging Strips. Before sealing, allow a flash-off time of > 15 minutes (< 6 hours). Other metals, such as copper, brass and titanium-zinc, also have to be cleaned and pre-treated using Sika® Aktivator-205,wiped on with a clean towel. An incorrectly positioned element can easily be unfastened and repositioned during the first few minutes after application. Apply pressure again. Optimum bonding will be obtained after the complete curing of Sikaflex® Crystal Clear. The recommended adhesive layer thickness (depending on surface evenness) is ≤3 mm. Fresh, uncured adhesive remaining on the surface must be removed immediately. Final strength will be obtained after complete curing of Sikaflex® Crystal Clear. Sealing After the necessary substrate preparation, insert a suitable backing rod to the required depth and apply any primer if necessary. Insert a cartridge into the sealant gun and extrude Sikaflex® Crystal Clear into the joint making sure that it comes into full contact with the sides of the joint and avoids any air entrapment. Sikaflex® Crystal Clear sealant must be firmly tooled against the joint sides to ensure adequate adhesion. It is recommended to use masking tape where exact joint lines or neat lines are required. Remove the tape within the skin time. Do not use tooling products containing solvents. Any loose flaking must be removed and light sanding is recommended. Application One Way Method: This method is recommended for heavier panels or where load or stress is expected. Apply a 4 to 6mm bead of SikaBond using a cartridge gun, making sure the beads are no more than 45cm apart. Bring both substrates immediately together and clamp, nail or screw for a minimum of 24 hours. For butt joints use adhesive on both panel edges. Two Way Method: Apply adhesive as in one way method, bring together substrates, and press firmly over entire surface to transfer adhesive. Then pull apart. Allow adhesive to tack off for 3 to 5 minutes depending on weather conditions, reposition the objects and press together firmly. The surfaces should be tapped together with a hammer and a padded block to ensure maximum contact. Maximum bond strength will be achieved in 12 to 72 hours, depending on substrates and weather. Heavy panels may require temporary mechanical fastening until maximum strength is achieved.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION The substrate must be sound, clean, dry and free of all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, cement laitance, old sealants and poorly bonded paint coatings which could affect adhesion of the adhesive. For optimum adhesion and critical, high performance applications the following priming and/or pre-treatment procedures shall be followed: Non-porous substrates Aluminium, anodised aluminium, stainless steel, galvanised steel, powder coated metals or glazed tiles, slightly roughen surface with a fine abrasive pad. Clean and pre-treat using Sika® Aktivator-205 applied with a clean cloth. Before bonding / sealing, allow a waiting time of > 15 minutes (< 6 hours). Other metals, such as copper, brass and titanium-zinc, clean and pre-treat using Sika® Aktivator-205 applied with a clean cloth. After a waiting time of > 15 minutes (< 6 hours). Apply Sika® Primer-3 N applied by brush. Allow a further waiting time of > 30 minutes (< 8 hours) before bonding / sealing. Brace the lining as required in the shower manufacturer's installation instructions. Bracing if required should remain in position for not less than 18 hours. For larger area repairs such as shoe soles, we recommend you use the contact bond method: For quick and even bonding, apply to one surface only, press together and pull apart. Keep apart until the adhesive film is almost dry (approx. 10 – 20 minutes). Carefully line up surfaces to be joined and press surfaces firmly together. Bonds immediately on contact. Clamping may be necessary in some applications. For smaller areas, either use the contact method as above, or join with a wet bond: Apply Shoe Glue to one surface only and immediately press together. Lightly clamp or hold until dry. Allow adhesive to achieve maximum bond strength (24 hours) before wearing your repaired shoe/s. Wipe nozzle clean and replace cap immediately after use. Clean up application tools and excess adhesive with turps before it dries. Handy tips A piece of plastic from a takeaway container makes a good applicator for shoe soles. APPLICATION FOR MIRRORS For mirrors up to 6mm thick, apply strips of adhesive 5cm from edges and approx 8cm apart When mirror is pressed onto the wall, strips of adhesive must not spread into, or touch one another. A gap must remain between them. Immediately after applying adhesive, place mirror against wall before adhesive skins (within 5 minutes) The weight must be supported and mirror must be held in place with temporary supports (e.g. with clips or tape) to hold and maintain adhesive contact over the total bond area until sufficient adhesive strength has developed. Normally after 72 hours. Do not seal around the edges of the mirror for at least a week to allow air circulation and aid the adhesive fully cure Mirrors should not be fixed directly to unpainted plaster, timber, concrete or brick walls. If porous surfaces are greasy or dirty, we would recommend cleaning the surface with SELLEYS LIQUID SUGAR SOAP, and allow to dry. If the surface is non-porous eg glass or metal, firstly clean the surface with Mineral Turpetine and then again with Methylated Spirits, and allow to dry. If there is old difficult to remove residue such as old flaky paint, we recommend using paint stripper such as SELLEYS KWIK STRIP SMART, and allow to dry. On wet timber pooled water should be wiped off. Highly oily timber types may need to be wiped with solvent prior to application to remove surface oils. We also recommend sanding the surface back with a good quality sanding block, such as a ROTA COTA Sanding Block Medium/ Course grain, as the construction adhesive will adhere more readily to a scratched up surface. Cut the seal at the top of the cartridge. Cut the nozzle end to desired opening (approx. 5mm diameter). Fit to the top of the cartridge. Insert the cartridge into a caulking gun such as SELLEYS LIGHT SPEED Caulking gun. Ensure the V shape is angled upward when applying. Position materials and press together firmly. Due to the high initial hold of the product support during curing is not necessary (subject to weight limitations for non-porous surfaces). Holds instantly but must not be disturbed until cured (up to 48 hours). Adjustable e.g. can be straightened for up to 15 minutes Handy Tips Clean up with turps before the adhesive cures Safety Information KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Avoid skin and eye contact and breathing vapours. Use in a well ventilated area. Wash hands after use. If on skin: Wash with soap and water. Product releases methanol during cure. Refer to Safety Data Sheet. Storage & re-use Cure product before disposal Store in a cool place. The adhesive should be used within 6 months after opening. If the adhesive is going to be used again within a few days, leave the nozzle on and merely extrude approximately 2 cm of product before storing the cartridge upright. This will cure to a plug which can easily be pulled out when required. For longer storage periods, leave the nozzle on and place a piece of plasticene or Blu Tack over the end of the nozzle. Tightly tape a piece of aluminium foil over the whole nozzle to exclude any air. When you want to re-use the product, simply take off the foil and plug from the old nozzle pull out the excess adhesive from the nozzle with a corkscrew, then re-pierce any cure at the tip of the cartridge and re-use. If cure has taken place into the cartridge, the product is unlikely to be in a useable state and should be disposed.
