Can I use Command™ Products on glass windows? It is okay to use Command™ Products if the glass is not exposed to direct sunlight and not flooded with water. For glass shower doors use our special Water-Resistant line of products (blue strip) which are clearly marked on our packaging. Will Command™ Products stick to brick? No. Command™ Products are intended for mostly smooth surfaces such as those listed above. However, our products will stick to painted, smooth cinder block (the type found inside many school and office buildings). Can I use Command™ Products on fresh paint? Paint should be fully cured (check paint can for manufacturer's cure time) before using Command Products. We recommend waiting 28 days before use on fresh paint. Also, alcohol may remove or dull the surface of fresh paint. Can I use Command™ Products on wallpaper? No. Most wallpapers are too delicate and can tear when adhesives are applied. Will it hold soundproofing acoustic foam board or decorative plates? Yes, provided the item is within the weight limit specified for Command™ Picture Hanging Strips. SikaBond is a high strength contact adhesive that will not slump on vertical surfaces. It can be used as a one way liquid adhesive, or a two way contact adhesive, on a variety of surfaces. Uses SikaBond can be used on most substrates due to its excellent adhesion. These include: Floor and wall panels. Wood, plasterboard and chipboard. Aluminium, iron and steel. Concrete, cement sheeting and masonry. Advantages One component ready to use. Fast drying time. Easy to use. High adhesion strength. Non-slump. Storage and Shelf Life Stored in the original sealed packaging at temperatures of between 5ºC and 35ºC, this material will keep for at least twelve (12) months. Instructions for Use Surface Preparation All surfaces must be clean, sound, dry and free of oil, grease and surface contamination. Thoroughly remove all loose particles and dust. Any loose flaking must be removed and light sanding is recommended. Application One Way Method: This method is recommended for heavier panels or where load or stress is expected. Apply a 4 to 6mm bead of SikaBond using a cartridge gun, making sure the beads are no more than 45cm apart. Bring both substrates immediately together and clamp, nail or screw for a minimum of 24 hours. For butt joints use adhesive on both panel edges. Two Way Method: Apply adhesive as in one way method, bring together substrates, and press firmly over entire surface to transfer adhesive. Then pull apart. Allow adhesive to tack off for 3 to 5 minutes depending on weather conditions, reposition the objects and press together firmly. The surfaces should be tapped together with a hammer and a padded block to ensure maximum contact. Maximum bond strength will be achieved in 12 to 72 hours, depending on substrates and weather. Heavy panels may require temporary mechanical fastening until maximum strength is achieved.

If porous surfaces are greasy or dirty, we would recommend cleaning the surface with SELLEYS LIQUID SUGAR SOAP, and allow to dry. If the surface is non-porous eg glass or metal, firstly clean the surface with Mineral Turpetine and then again with Methylated Spirits, and allow to dry. If there is old difficult to remove residue such as old flaky paint, we recommend using paint stripper such as SELLEYS KWIK STRIP SMART, and allow to dry. On wet timber pooled water should be wiped off. Highly oily timber types may need to be wiped with solvent prior to application to remove surface oils. We also recommend sanding the surface back with a good quality sanding block, such as a ROTA COTA Sanding Block Medium/ Course grain, as the construction adhesive will adhere more readily to a scratched up surface. Cut the seal at the top of the cartridge. Cut the nozzle end to desired opening (approx. 5mm diameter). Fit to the top of the cartridge. Insert the cartridge into a caulking gun such as SELLEYS LIGHT SPEED Caulking gun. We recommend SELLEYS LIGHT SPEED Caulking Gun, as its new innovative pressure release design reduces the mess which results from run on and stress on your hands, which is critical if you are doing a lot of work which requires a caulking gun. Apply a bead of product along the length of the joist, stud or batten. On broad flat surfaces apply beads every 40cm. Fix the surfaces with sufficient nails, screws or clamping to hold load and achieve contact over the total bond area. The product is repositionable for up to 20 minutes after fitting. Allow the adhesive to set (at least 24 hours) before removing any temporary fasteners or clamping. For faster grab, apply to one surface only, press together and pull apart. Allow surfaces to dry 2-5 minutes before firmly joining. The time it takes to form a strong bond depends on the nature and conditions of the application. In most situations strong bonds can be achieved after 24 hours and will continue to strengthen over a 2-3 day period. The product will fully cure up to 7 days. When the product is still wet it can be removed with mineral turpetine, otherwise if the product is dry it can be removed by sanding or scraping, we recommend using a 50mm ROTA COTA Soft Grip Scraper. Clean any excess from your hands with SELLEYS Hand Kleen Wipes. To eliminate squeaks in tongue and groove flooring, apply a bead of Liquid nails into the groove or each board when installing. Handy tips When applying to one surface, ensure sufficient LIQUID NAILS Original is used so that some adhesive extrudes out when surfaces are brought together then wipe off excess if necessary. If glue is not visible, then insufficient contact may not have been made between the surfaces and a weak joint may result. LIQUID NAILS Original should always be used in conjunction with mechanical fasteners in structural, critical or high stress applications. LIQUID NAILS Original is sometimes called LIQUID NAILS (SOLVENT) to differentiate it from the other Liquid Nails products. LIQUID NAILS Original shrinks slightly on curing. Cured LIQUID NAILS Original residues can be removed by holding a rag soaked in Mineral Turps against the residue, then rubbing the residue once softened. Mineral Turps penetrates in this way at approximately 1 mm per hour. When Liquid Nails Original joints are directly exposed to the weather, it is recommended to seal around the edges with a silicone sealant to prevent water ponding inside the joint and thus weaken the joint. Position the items carefully, still keeping surfaces apart with dowels or heavy craft paper and working from one edge press surfaces firmly together. Secure bond by running a roller over the bonded surfaces or else by hammering the surface from the centre outwards using a padded block. For bonding other materials, apply as for laminated plastics above. When small surface areas are to be joined a wet bond may be used. Simply apply Gel Grip to one surface then bring the surfaces together and clamp until dry. Handy tips Care should be taken to test plastics prior to use as solvents present will attack some grades such as polystyrene and sheet vinyl. Use Kwik Grip Advanced for these applications. No. Command™ Products are intended for mostly smooth surfaces such as those listed above. However, our products will stick to painted, smooth cinder block (the type found inside many school and office buildings). Can I use Command™ Products on fresh paint? Paint should be fully cured (check paint can for manufacturer's cure time) before using Command Products. We recommend waiting 28 days before use on fresh paint. Also, alcohol may remove or dull the surface of fresh paint. Can I use Command™ Products on wallpaper? No. Most wallpapers are too delicate and can tear when adhesives are applied. Will it hold soundproofing acoustic foam board or decorative plates? Yes, provided the item is within the weight limit specified for Command™ Picture Hanging Strips.
